Welcome to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Clinical Biochemistry Service Our clinical biochemistry laboratories are based in Glasgow, Scotland. We offer analytical and interpretative services for a wide range of biochemical tests to General Practitioners and hospital clinicians in North Glasgow. The Service operates from laboratories at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Stobhill General Hospital and Western Infirmary & Gartnavel General Hospital. We carry out about 10 million laboratory tests per year. Our mainstream tests include core chemistry, immunochemistry and lipid service, point-of-care testing, therapeutic drug monitoring, and we provide emergency service for each of our hospitals. We also carry out specialist tests for drugs of abuse, endocrinology, gastroenterology, lipids, molecular biology, proteins, toxicology, trace elements and vitamins. These services are used by NHS clients throughout Scotland and by clients in England and Ireland. We have been involved in organizing clinical trials and providing analytical service for work in Scotland and beyond for many years. This has ranged from one-off specialist tests for NHS hospitals to all aspects of safety, efficacy, and specialist testing for Phase IV and Phase V clinical trials.
