In recent years Clinical
Biochemistry in the North Glasgow Hospitals Trust has undergone
considerable changes and through a process of rationalisation and
harmonisation, analyses are now provided by a single department operating
from sites at Gartnavel General Hospital, Royal Infirmary, Stobhill
Hospital, and Western Infirmary.

Full approval by Clinical Pathology Accreditation (UK) Ltd. CPA Reference number 2335. |
Repertoire |
The repertoire of the laboratory is always changing. Please phone for
up-to-date information. In addition to the Specialist tests listed, a full
range of routine Clinical Biochemistry tests is also available. Through
our clinical colleagues we can also access a full range of routine and
specialised Haematology, Immunology, Microbiology and Pathology
tests. |
External Quality Assessment |
The laboratory
participates in external quality assurance schemes wherever
available. Performance details are available on
request. |
Reference Ranges |
All reference ranges are derived or validated locally. |
Hours of opening |
The laboratory is open 24hrs/day, and every day of the year, for receipt
of samples by post or courier. |
Sample Storage |
Samples are stored for a minimum of one week after
analysis. |
Dangerous Specimens |
It is
extremely important that potentially dangerous specimens are labelled as
such using a ‘Danger of Infection’ sticker. |
Data Protection |
All data is securely maintained under the principles of the Data
Protection Act. |
